Select the image for a larger view.
Click the Substances Tab. The IACUC has populated many substances that you can choose from. If a substance is not already populated, you must create your own Team Substance(s) by clicking Create Substance on the left side of the screen.
IMPORTANT
You must Create a Substance for EACH substance your team may use.
Provide the specific name of the substance to be used.
Substances will often fall under more than one type in this list. Find the closest type(s) and check all that apply.
For example: Ketamine is both a Controlled Substance and an Anesthetic.
If you are unsure, always check with the product’s supplier or the substances Safety Data Sheet (SDS). The labels of hazardous chemicals usually contain the words ‘danger’ or ‘warning’, along with relevant pictograms and details of hazards.
Add any substance-related documents, for example:
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)- MUST BE ATTACHED IN SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR EACH SUBSTANCE YOU WILL USE.
- Chemical characteristics and the intended effects and/or side effects of the substance.
- Detailed steps for administering the substance.
These documents will list on the Supporting Documents tab of the substance workspace.
Once finished adding supporting documents, click OK or OK and Add another. Click Finish when done.
